Due to the current worldwide outbreak we have closed the Centre to flatten the curve through social distancing. During this time, we are helping our community stay peaceful and anxiety-free by live-streaming our meditation classes directly to you. We are live-streaming our classes from our Centre in Guelph to towns and cities in Southwestern Ontario outside of the Golden Horseshoe. Join us for our online classes from the comfort of your home and learn meditation methods designed to help us transform all our difficulties into spiritual growth.

Meditation & modern Buddhism

We offer a meditation classes, in-depth study programs, chanted prayers, courses and retreats. Our classes are open to everyone, regardless of background or previous experience. There is no need to register for our meditation classes.

Our Meditation Classes

The drop in meditation classes at the Centre and nearby branches are open to everyone. Classes include step-by-step guided meditations, talks and informal discussions. These group classes will allow you to relax, enjoy some meditation, and return home feeling refreshed and inspired.

WHAT TO EXPECT IN A CLASS

Our meditation classes are for anyone who is interested in learning how to meditate, regardless of background or beliefs. They are designed to give a broad introduction to Buddhist meditation, teachings, and practice.  Every class includes a chance to practise meditation. No prior experience, special equipment or special clothes are necessary – just come as you are.

  • Guided Breathing Meditation Every class begins with a fifteen -minute guided breathing meditation.
  • Teaching The meditation is followed by a talk from Buddha’s teachings. These practical talks help us to solve our daily problems and find peace, happiness and, if we wish, a deeper purpose in our busy lives.

  • Second Guided Meditation The teaching is followed by a guided meditation based on the class teaching in order to develop wisdom through deeper contemplation and meditation.

  • Question and Answer There is an opportunity to discuss the talk and meditation with others, and to ask questions. Don’t worry – there’s no expectation to talk if you don’t want to!

  • Advice on Daily Practice The class finishes with practical advice on how we can put the teaching into practice in our daily life through the practice of mindfulness.
