About Our Centre
Avalokiteshvara Kadampa Buddhist Centre (AKBC), a centre in the New Kadampa Tradition – International Kadampa Buddhist Union (NKT-IKBU), was established in 2009 to bring Buddha’s ancient teachings to modern people. These teachings enable everyone, regardless of previous experience or background, to develop inner peace.
Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, the founder of NKT-IKBU, has dedicated his life to helping people find true happiness by developing inner peace through meditation and other practices. He has designed an international education program that provides everyone, regardless of nationality, age or gender with the opportunity to learn simple techniques for developing the capacity of their mind and eventually attaining the permanent inner peace of enlightenment. To date, this program has been implemented in over forty countries.
AKBC serves the Southwestern Ontario communities of Guelph, Kitchener, Georgetown, London, and Stratford and their surrounding areas.

Kadampa Buddhism
Kadampas are people who take Buddha’s teachings as personal advice and put these teachings into practice. This modern presentation from the Kadampa lineage is particularly suited to people of the modern world. By putting this advice into practice, we can solve our modern-day problems such as stress, anxiety, anger, and ill-health and develop lasting peace of mind.
