Since Avalokiteshvara Kadampa Buddhist Centre moved to Guelph in March 2017, we have offered classes on meditation and modern Buddhism throughout Ontario – London, Kitchener, Stratford and Georgetown. We have been able to offer these classes as a result of the kindness of this one benefactor who not only lent us his car, but also covered our insurance and maintenance expenses. We only had to pay for the gas! This benefactor has recently moved out of the country and has kindly donated this car to the Centre – a 2010 Volkswagon Jetta with 250,000 km and snow tires.
Now that we have the car full time, we wish to increase the number of branches we offer. We hope to re-start new branches in Georgetown and Stratford this winter. Also we have a plan to program public talks in Chatham and Windsor and other towns in Ontario.
But we need your help. Although we are happy to have the car, we will need the support of the community to cover expenses. Please support our car fund! We are hoping to raise $3500 that will help cover insurance, oil changes, maintenance and CAA for at least the next 12 months (and hopefully, longer). The car is in good condition but we understand that disintegration is the nature of samsara. We expect to have to make some part replacements over the next year.
Please consider donating to our car fund this fall. Your donation will make classes on modern Buddhism and meditation possible across Ontario!
Charitable tax receipts will be issued to you directly from CanadaHelps. Thank you for your support of our car fund and helping dharma to flourish in Southern Ontario.
