our meditation classes

Our Sunday afternoon, Tuesday morning and Wednesday evening classes cover a different topic or ‘series’ each month. The Sunday class and the Wednesday class weekly topic is the same. Each series looks at an aspect of Buddha’s teaching with advice on how to practically integrate the wisdom and experience of that teaching into our daily life. By practically applying Buddha’s wisdom into our daily life, we will experience the benefits of meditation and overcome the negative feelings and thoughts that continuously bring us down.

Join us for our Meditations for World Peace class on Sunday morning. Our meditation classes on Sunday mornings are by donation. We also offer lunchtime meditations during the week. Scroll below for more information on our upcoming classes.

What to Expect in a Class

Our meditation classes are for anyone interested in learning how to meditate, regardless of background or beliefs. Classes are designed to give a broad introduction to Buddhist meditation, teachings, and practice.
Every class includes a chance to practise meditation. No prior experience, special equipment or special clothes are necessary for our onsite classes – just come as you are, and bring your mask.

Classes are all standalone individual classes that are presented in a series. You do not need to attend the full series to attend a class.

Class Series Topics

Developing Authentic Self-Confidence

Low self-esteem, fear and anxiety arise from identifying with a “faulty” and “limited self”. But this view of ourself is not coming from wisdom. By developing correct thoughts based on wisdom we will cultivate correct thoughts that give us an a deep an authentic experience of confidence.

Some topics in this series:

1. Where does low self-esteem come from?
2. Freedom from Fear
3. Ignorance – the root of suffering
4. Finding Authentic Self Confidence

These classes are based on the book  The New Eight Steps to Happiness. Come along and learn how to make your life deeply meaningful.

The Mirror of Wisdom

By applying Buddha’s teachings to our modern daily lives, we can view the world, and living beings in a special way – as a reflection in the mirror of wisdom. By understanding how the world around us is a reflection of our own mind, we can learn to recognise our negative minds and to abandon them completely. With training, we will experience an inner ability to transform suffering into powerful, positive states of mind, such as love, compassion and joy.

Medicine for the Mind

The Buddhist vision for Radiant Mental Health

More and more these days it seems that everyone is “working on my mental health.” So many people are struggling with depression or anxiety, or insecurity or feelings of rejection. But what does it mean to be mentally healthy? What is a fully healthy mind? Do we even have an image of what that would be?

Medicine for the Mind

Actual mental health is much more than simply not being depressed or not being anxious. It is much more than simply being able to cope better with life. Through Buddha’s teachings on the mind we are given a vision of a fully healed mind, a vision of radiant mental health.

These classes are based on the books How to Solve Our Human Problems and  The New Eight Steps to Happiness. Come along and learn how to make your life deeply meaningful.

The classes are presented in a series but each class is stand-alone. You do not need to attend the full series to benefit from the classes.

$12 drop-in |  $40 for any 4 classes (series pass) | Free for members

Tickets can be purchased before class through Eventbrite or at the door.  No registration necessary
