Our Community

Avalokiteshvara Kadampa Buddhist Centre community spans South-western Ontario. Although we are located in downtown Guelph, we have branches throughout Ontario – in London, Kitchener, Stratford and Georgetown. We are hoping to start branches also in nearby Cambridge soon. We hold weekend retreats and courses that are attended by students from Guelph and our various branches. We also hold a community picnic every year in Guelph.

There are lots of opportunities for our sangha to support and encourage each other by attending classes and events at Avalokiteshvara Kadampa Buddhist Centre and festivals and celebrations at Kadampa Meditation Centre Canada. We meet at our annual Canadian Festival at the Canadian national temple at Kadampa Meditation Centre Canada in Toronto in June and our Ontario Celebration in the fall.

Along with our classes and regular programming, our community comes together for an hour every month for Centre cherishing – giving an hour of their time to contribute to the daily upkeep of the centre. Our Centre is completely run by volunteers. Our volunteers assist classes, maintain our website, post publicity, do bookkeeping and offer skills in a multitude of ways.

If you would like to contribute to the Centre activities, we would love to hear from you. Please contact Jelena at admin@akbc.ca for more information.
