Public Talk with Gen Thekchen

Finding Peace – Meditation, Inner Health and Happiness

About the Talk: When things go wrong in our life and we encounter difficult situations, we tend to regard the situation itself as our problem. But, in reality, whatever problems we experience come from the mind. If we were to respond to difficult situations with a positive and peaceful mind, they would not be problems for us. Indeed, we may even come to regard them as challenges or opportunities for growth and development. Problems arise only if we respond to difficulties with a negative state of mind. Therefore, if we want to be happy all the time and to be free from problems, we must maintain and develop a peaceful mind.

This talk will inspire us to find peace of mind within empowering us to respond to any problems and difficulties that arise with a positive mind – seeing solutions and moving forward with confidence.

finding peace meditation inner health and happiness

This series follows from the special public talk on November 21 with Gen Kelsang Thekchen the Resident Teacher of Kadampa Meditation Centre Canada. In this series of classes, we will dwelve deeper into the contemplations introduced by Gen Thekchen. In this way we will gain a deep experience of the capacity of our mind to experience inner peace and improve our overall health and well-being. We can all achieve inner peace and happiness through regular meditation training.

Where do our problems come from? Are problems found outside the mind or within our unpeaceful states of mind?  By understanding whatever problems we experience come from the mind, we can learn to respond to difficult situations with a positive and peaceful mind. In this way, we can transform our problems into challenges or opportunities for growth and development. We can learn to solve our daily problems with deep understanding of the teaching that problems arise only if we respond to difficulties with a negative state of mind.

Each class is a stand-alone class that is part of a series of classes. You do not need to attend the full series to benefit from these classes. These classes are based on the books How to Transform Your Life and The New Eight Steps to Happiness. Come along and learn how to make your life deeply meaningful.

The classes are presented in a series but each class is stand-alone. You do not need to attend the full series to benefit from the classes. You do not need to pre-register for our December classes. Just come along!
