Anger has many faults, and causes us many problems. Anger is the result of an uncontrolled mind and causes us to respond to situations in an irrational way – making situations worse. However, we know that sometimes our anger is strong, sometime it is weak and sometimes it is not present at all in our mind. This indicates that anger is an impermanent, temporary mind that we can overcome.
We can stand up to anger and defeat it whenever it arises in our mind by learning the art of acceptance. Patient acceptance is not gritting our teeth and putting up with things. Instead, patient acceptance is wholeheartedly welcoming whatever arises in our life. Instead of constantly getting upset about inconveniences and running away from difficulties, we can learn to respond confidently to whatever challenges we encounter. Through practicing patient acceptance we dissolve away the intensity of our anger and experience clarity and calm.
