Drop-in Meditation Classes in Guelph

Come and meditate with us in Guelph. We have comfortable chairs and mats and cushions are available for those who prefer to sit on the floor. Herbal tea and refreshments are available after class if you would like to stay awhile. Everyone is welcome. All classes except for Foundation Program are drop-in.

By developing and maintaining compassion and wisdom in daily life, we can transform our lives, improve our relationships with others and look behind appearances to see the way things actually exist. In this way we can solve all our daily problems and accomplish the real meaning of our human life. With compassion and wisdom, like the two wings of a bird, we can quickly reach the enlightened world of a Buddha.

These classes provide a basic introduction to Buddhist teachings and meditations. Through these we can learn how to use Buddha’s advice as a solution to our daily problems and in this way come to experience a sense of peace and happiness in our lives. Classes run in a 3 – 4 week series but each class is standalone – so you can drop-in at any time. Everyone is welcome! You do not need to be a Buddhist to attend, or to benefit from the classes – just drop in!

Topic for October: Self Respect, Self-Confidence

We are all familiar with feelings of discouragement, low self-esteem or just general awkwardness when dealing with others in some situations. How are these negative, uncomfortable feelings develop? How do they have a hold over the way we think of ourself? By following Buddha’s practical advice we can learn to see ourself in a strong and positive way – bringing genuine self-confidence into our mind through strengthening our own self – respect while at the same time deepening our respect for others. Join us for this 4-week series in October and increase your own inner strength.

About Our Classes

MEDITATION FOR EVERYONE

  • Lunchtime Meditation Only have time for a quick meditation? Drop in to our lunchtime meditations on Monday for a 15-minute guided meditation.

  • General Program Classes Need wisdom medicine to heal your mind, improve your relationships and bring inner peace and happiness in your life? Come to our drop-in meditations on Sunday afternoons (2:30 – 4pm) or Wednesday evenings (7 – 8:30pm) and integrate spiritual practice into modern daily life.
  • Foundation Program Classes Want to go deeper and train in attaining realizations of renuncation, bodhichitta and the correct view of emptiness? Join our Foundation Program class – contemplate, meditate and discuss to increase wisdom.
  • Prayers for World Peace This October we will offer a new Prayers for World Peace class on Sunday mornings. Come for an hour to make prayers for the well-being and happiness of others, receive a short teaching and an object of meditation and contemplation to take with you for your week ahead.

  • Full Day and Half Day Courses For a deeper experience of meditation and contemplation, we offer half-day or full day classes on a Saturday each month.
