Our Teachers

Classes are taught by our Resident Teacher, Gen Kelsang Kunden and by senior Kadampa students at Avalokiteshvara Kadampa Buddhist Centre. Gen Kunden teaches on Tuesday nights in Kitchener, Thursday nights in Georgetown, on select Saturdays in Fergus/ Elora and London.

Our Resident Teacher

Gen Kelsang Kunden is a Canadian Buddhist nun and the Resident Teacher at Avalokiteshvara Kadampa Buddhist Centre in Guelph. Gen Kunden has been a close disciple of  Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche for over 26 years and received ordination from Venerable Geshe-la in 2002.

Since 1998, Gen Kunden has worked for the New Kadampa Tradition in various Kadampa Centres throughout Canada as well in Centres in Asia, and the United States.  Gen Kelsang Kunden emphasizes the practical application of modern Buddhism in a clear and humourous manner.

Gen Kunden teaches General Program (drop-in classes) at Avalokiteshvara Kadampa Buddhist Centre in Guelph and also also the branch classes in various locations.  She also teaches the Foundation Program class and most weekend courses and retreats.

Jelena Bradic

Jelena Bradic has been practicing and studying Kadampa Buddhism on the Foundation Program for several years. Jelena shows a good example of putting Buddha’s teachings into practice to solve the problems of daily life. Jelena is works full time as an engineer and volunteers at the Centre with the Education program.

Jelena is appreciated for her clear, light-hearted, and practical presentation of Buddhist teachings. Jelena teaches drop-in classes at the Centre as well as some half day meditation courses.


Kimberly Lippert

Kimberly Lippert has been studying Kadampa Buddhism and meditation for over 18 years in Canada and at Manjushri Kadampa Meditation Centre in the UK. Kim is a senior student on the Foundation Program at Avalokiteshvara Kadampa Buddhist Centre in Guelph. As a long term practitioner and a busy working mother, Kim shows a good example of a modern Kadampa practitioner. Students value her sense of humour and clear explanations of Buddha’s teachings.

Kim teaches occasional Foundation Program  and drop-in classes in Guelph.


Kristian Rogers

Kris moved to Guelph in 2021 and joined the Foundation Program at AKBC where she has been an active student and volunteer. She works in the food industry and is the mother of a teenage son.

Kris is able to present Kadam Dharma with very clear, teachings and with clear examples and stories of how to integrate these profound teachings into active daily life.
