Gen-la Kelsang Dekyong, the General Spiritual Director of NKT-IKBU and Principal Resident Teacher at Manjushri KMC, is a modern Buddhist nun dedicated to helping people from all walks of life attain lasting happiness through developing inner mental peace.She has been a student of Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso for thirty years and is a highly experienced Buddhist Teacher who has taught at many different centres internationally.Before her appointment as General Spiritual Director she was the National Spiritual Director of the USA. She is a very powerful Teacher able to make Buddha’s teachings easily accessible and to show through her example how to integrate these teachings into daily life.Gen-la has dedicated her life to helping spread Kadampa Buddhism throughout the world by developing meditation centres and Temples in many countries, and she provides enthusiastic support and encouragement to everyone engaged in these projects.
Our Deputy Spiritual Director
Gen-la Kelsang Jampa is the Deputy Spiritual Director of the New Kadampa Tradition – International Kadampa Buddhist Union (NKT-IKBU) and Resident Teacher of the International Kadampa Retreat Center Grand Canyon in Arizona. He is an American Buddhist monk dedicated to helping people solve their daily problems by developing the capacity of their mind through the practice of meditation and modern Buddhism.Gen-la Jampa has been a student of Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso for many years. Under Geshe-la’s guidance, he has taught at many centers and events internationally. Gen-la is well-loved for his clear and inspiring teachings, and his ability to touch people’s hearts through his sincerity and loving-kindness.Gen-la Jampa will be teaching at the Canadian National Festival in June 2019 at KMC Canada in Toronto.
Our National Spiritual Director
Gen-la Kelsang Khyenrab is the National Spiritual Director of Canada, retired General Spiritual Director for the NKT-IKBU and Resident Teacher of Kadampa Meditation Centre Canada (KMCC). Gen-la Khyenrab is an internationally renowned teacher and Buddhist monk who is greatly admired for his powerful teachings as well as his pure example of humility and loving-kindness.In Toronto at KMCC, Gen-la Khyenrab teaches weekend courses that we encourage the students of AKBC to attend if they are able.
Our Resident Teacher
Kelsang Kunden is a Canadian Buddhist nun and the Resident Teacher at Avalokiteshvara Kadampa Buddhist Centre in Guelph. Kunden has been studying Buddhism for almost 20 years and was ordained by Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche in 2002. Since 1998, Kunden has worked for the New Kadampa Tradition in Canada, Asia, and the United States. Kelsang Kunden emphasizes the practical application of modern Buddhism in a clear and humourous manner.
Kelsang Kunden teaches General Program and Foundation Program classes at Avalokiteshvara Kadampa Buddhist Center in Guelph, as well as General Program classes in Kitchener, Stratford, London and Georgetown.
