Meditation Class Series

Our series of classes are based on Eight Verses of Training the Mind – beautiful and inspiring advice from Bodhisattva Langri Tangpa. These ancient teachings, resonate with modern people today, with profound advice on how to transform adverse conditions to the spiritual path. By contemplating, meditating and applying the wisdom of these verses in our daily life, we can gain a deep experience of inner peace, happiness and love.

Wishing Love

May meditation series

June meditation series - transforming adverse conditions

Even if someone I have helped
And of whom I had great hopes
Nevertheless harms me intentionally,
May I see him or her as my holy Spiritual Guide.

The main purpose of this verse is to teach us how to develop and improve our experience of wishing love. Through contemplating deeply how those that we deeply love and cherish lack true happiness, we develop a strong and powerful experience of wishing love – wishing all living beings to experience true happiness.

Transforming Adverse Conditions

June meditation series

June meditation series - transforming adverse conditions

When things are going well, and people are kind and treating us with respect, it is not so difficult to wish for them to be happy. However, if our love for others diminishes as soon as they cause us problems or fail to appreciate us, this indicates that our love is not pure. For as long as our good feelings for others are conditional upon their treating us well, our love will be weak and unstable and we will not be able to transform it into universal love. However if we develop real patience our mind will be as stable as a mountain and as calm as the depths of an ocean.

Summer meditation series

summer meditation class

The Stages of the Path to Enlightenment, or Lamrim in Tibetan, is a sophisticated, practical presentation of Buddha’s teachings designed to help us improve and grow in a deliberate and joyful way. Over 1000 years ago the great Buddhist master Atisha consolidated the 84,000 teachings of Buddha into 21 essential meditations or the Lamrim making it simple, practical method meditations of the path to enlightenment – available to all. We can find, through our own experience how Lamrim fits perfectly within our modern lifestyle.

These classes this summer takes us step-by-step through carefully crafted meditations. In this way, we can purposefully nourish the qualities in our mind that lead to our happiness and reduce our painful thoughts and feelings. For example, some of the meditations help us enhance our self-confidence, empathy, or contentment. Others aid us in overcoming distractions, anger, or depression. Overall, by practicing these 21 meditations in conjunction with one another we will notice our mind becoming healthier, stronger, and finally more enlightened.

In this class, we will go one-by-one through the Lamrim with a special emphasis on the art of meditation and how to really make our meditations effective.
